About Me
Yoga?
To me, practicing yoga means going back to the essence of the movement while ensuring a safe environment through the appropriate anatomical alignment.
Yoga is for me a playground where we explore our capacity to unlock or refine the perception and the awareness of ourselves. It might sometimes unleash a flow of emotions, and sometimes it’s simply about being comfortable with staying in the moment.
The practice offers an incredible journey, I like that we usually know how a class starts but we never know where it ends.
My yoga path?
I have a martial arts background as I practiced Aikido over 10 years. At the beginning I was mostly focused on building up strength, looking for pacific ways to solve conflicts, but I also liked the idea of this discipline in the practice we sometimes need to challenge ourselves. After years of intensive trainings on tatami mats and some injuries, I wanted to find a different approach to connect to myself and that is how I landed in my first yoga class in 2015.
I studied art at the university so I have a tendency to look for the aesthetic in things. It might be the fading nordic daylight in Berlin in winter, an old book cover on a shelf or the soothing sound of an arabic oud.
During my yoga journey I realised that I had associated for too long the concepts of aesthetic with perfection, a toxic combination when we think about a “perfect pose”. Also I had to quickly face my own physical limitations which in itself is a very humbling experience. But that opened up the fascinating and beautiful world of the human body to me. Not only are the anatomical intricacies running the show of the body experience, but they might also teach us along the way one thing or two about acceptance and compassion.
